Rules and Guidelines

The e-exam system allows many traditional types of exams to be held.

  • E-exams take place under recording.
  • Students who exit the exam for any reason must re-enter the exam within 2 minutes. This rule must be announced to the students by the instructor before the exam.
  • It is mandatory to check students’ IDs verbally in the BBB session or in the Google Hangout Meet environment before the exam begins.
  • Students are prohibited from asking questions during the exam.
  • The camera and microphone of the students must be open during the exam.
  • The computer, internet, camera and microphone assembly is the student's responsibility and the student should check if the camera and microphone are working before the exam.
  • Pay attention to the starting time of the exam and do not be late to join the exam platform. Students who attempt to join 10 minutes after the exam has begun will not be accepted to the exam platform.

E-Exam Rules for Faculty Members

  • Faculty members are required to review the evaluation criteria included in the course syllabus and make sure that everything is compatible with distance education.
  • E-exams must be conducted through the Near East University Distance Education and Information Technologies Centre E-Exam System.
  • When preparing your e-exams, follow the e-exam instructions and user manual prepared for you.
  • The questions in your e-exams must not be taken directly from the printed materials.
  • In order to prevent cheating, make sure that the exam duration is not too long.
  • Always use instructions in your exams. Also, read the exam rules and instructions orally to your students before the exam begins.
  • Your e-exams must be recorded. You must start recording the exam as soon as you accept all your students to the exam platform. Please do not forget to get permission from your students for recording.
  • Use sessions within the BBB or the Google Hangout Meet environment for your e-exams.
  • Check your students’ IDs during video recording verbally before the exam begins.
  • Please inform your students before the exam that they have the right to re-enter the exam within 2 minutes if they get disconnected during the exam period due to a technical problem such as internet connection.
  • All students should have their cameras and microphones turned on during the exam. They should not turn off their cameras and microphones during the exam otherwise it will be counted as cheating.
  • The duration to answer the questions in your e-exams should be planned according to the length of the questions.
  • All questions and options must be in a different order for each student to prevent copy behaviour.
  • Do not forget to give your students feedback on common mistakes after the exam.
  • Do not forget to prepare an answer key for each question before the exam.
  • Start the exam after accepting all students to the platform. Do not accept the students who enter the exam platform later than the first 10 minutes of the exam. Do not forget to announce this rule to your students at least 7 days before the exam date.

E-Exam Rules for Students

  • Please read the e-exam rules before the exam.
  • Carefully listen to the exam rules and instructions that the instructor will read to you on the exam platform.
  • E-exams will be recorded.
  • You must take the e-exam with your ID card. Students without a photo ID will not be admitted to the examination session.
  • It is forbidden to speak during the e-exam. Your camera and microphone must be on during the exam. If your microphone or camera is turned off, your exam will be invalid.
  • You must be ready for the exam at the exact time that was announced before. Students who enter the exam platform later than the first 10 minutes of the exam will not be accepted to the exam.
  • You must re-enter the exam within 2 minutes if you get disconnected during the exam period due to a technical problem such as internet connection.
